What is your favorite book you've read this year and why?

According to Goodreads my favorite things I’ve read this year were Voice (Finder Vol 9) by Carla Speed McNeil and The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. Although I also want to put in a plug for Cullen Bunn’s The Sixth Gun. Probably I wouldn’t have loved Finder Vol 9 so much if I hadn’t loved Volumes 1-8, so I guess it’s fair to say Name of the Wind was my actual favorite book so far this year.
The answer to why I liked it can be summed up by that scene from Brick:
The Pin: You read Tolkien?
Brendan Frye: What?
The Pin: You know, the Hobbit books?
Brendan Frye: Yeah.
The Pin: His descriptions of things are really good. He makes you wanna be there.
