My Friend Told Me About This
OK a new meme all the kids are completely doing. I guess the idea is you share a song by an artist who you were introduced to by a friend. And then you say something about that friend.*
The first music that came to mind for me was Mirah. I don’t follow her super closely, but I like her. I was introduced to her music over email & mixtape by Cheryl, one of my best friends from college. I think her original email (sometime early this century, I believe) was “Have you heard of Mirah? She’s SO GOOD. The name of her album is You Think It’s LIke This But Really It’s Like This, which is the BEST NAME FOR AN ALBUM, EVER.” And it kind of still is.
Cheryl and I are still good friends and even though we live in separate cities and see each other maybe one every 3-4 years, we have been exchanging emails daily or weekly for close to 12 years now. This despite the fact that she doesn’t have a blog, and is as dismissive as a person can possibly be when I try to get her to join Facebook.

*Has anyone caught on yet that any time I post a music-related meme here, it’s one that I invented myself? This is a good way to approach the internet.
