Lotion — “Really Drunk”
This was the b-side to “Tear.” Also note that this is the fast version, from the KokoPop single. There was a slower version that they released as the b-side on the Spin Art label. FYI.
This morning I was driving around humming this, trying to figure out why it was suddenly stuck in my head after not having listened to it in ~10 years.
Then I got to the line Her mother died / I never cried / She used to be / Someone else entirely and realized how perfectly this song fits in with the book I’m currently reading— John Green’s “Looking for Alaska.” Awesome book, awesome song.
Two completely separate works of art, one from 1993 and one from 2006, and my subconscious worked out that they totally fit together. It’s really lovely how our brains work sometimes.
